Learn Thai Massage in a supportive, relaxed and playful environment. In this hands-on class, participants will learn the body mechanics and techniques necessary to give a relaxed and flowing Thai Massage. Traditional Thai Massage, also known as Thai Yoga Bodywork uses the techniques of leaning pressure, compression along energy lines, joint mobilization and traction, as well as yoga-like stretches to increase flexibility and joint range of motion, reduce muscle tension and pain, calm the nervous system and deepen an overall sense of well-being.

Thai Massage is done on a mat on the floor. It is helpful that participants have good body awareness and are comfortable moving at times on their knees. After completing this 50 hour class, participants will be able to give a 1½ to 2 hour Thai Massage. Each participant will receive an instructional manual, dvd and certificate of completion. The class is open to massage therapists, yoga teachers and students, as well as anyone with a desire to care for others using the therapeutic techniques of Thai Massage. Massage Therapists will receive 50 CE’s towards their continuing education requirements.

Pati has been a massage therapist and has been teaching yoga since 1994. She is a graduate of the Healing Arts Center in St. Louis, MO and the Ashland Institute of Massage in Ashland, OR. She studied Thai Massage with D’Vorah Schwarzman in Ashland, OR, at the Chicago School of Thai Massage and with Pichest Boonthamme in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Pati is an Illinois licensed massage therapist. She is nationally certified and an approved provider for continuing education through NCBTMB (Provider #451571-11), is a registered Thai therapist through Thai Healing Alliance International and is a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. She is a certified yoga teacher through the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, PA.

Carl received his degree in nursing from Rogue Community College in grants Pass, OR in 1996 and became an Oregon licensed massage therapist in 1999. He has studied Thai massage with Pati Starzynski since 2006. Carl is a graduate of National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL, and has been an Illinois licensed massage therapist since 2009. Carl received his degree in nursing from Rogue Community College in grants Pass, OR in 1996 and became an Oregon licensed massage therapist in 1999. He has studied Thai massage with Pati Starzynski since 2006. Carl is a graduate of National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL, and has been an Illinois licensed massage therapist since 2009. He is nationally certified through NCBTMB and is a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals.

Thai Massage/Thai Yoga Bodywork Class: Beginning February 4th, 2012

30 Hour – Thai Massage / Thai Yoga Bodywork Class

Learn Thai Massage in a supportive, relaxed and playful environment. In this hands-on class, participants will learn the body mechanics and techniques necessary to give a relaxed and flowing Thai Massage. Traditional Thai Massage, also known as Thai Yoga Bodywork uses the techniques of leaning pressure (compression) along energy lines, joint mobilization and traction, as well as yoga-like stretches to increase flexibility and joint range of motion, reduce muscle tension and pain, calm the nervous system and deepen an overall sense of well-being.

Thai Massage is done on a mat on the floor. It is helpful that participants have good body awareness and are comfortable moving at times on their knees. After completing this 30 hour class, participants will learn enough to be able to give a 1 to 1 1/2 hour Thai Massage. Each participant will receive an instructional manual and a certificate of completion. The class is open to massage therapists, yoga  teachers and students, as well as anyone with a desire to care for others using the therapeutic techniques of Thai Massage.

Pati has been a massage therapist and has been teaching yoga since 1994. She is a graduate of the Healing Arts Center in St. Louis, MO and the Ashland Institute of Massage in Ashland, OR. She studied Thai Massage with D’Vorah Schwarzman in Ashland, OR, at the Chicago School of Thai Massage and with Pichest Boonthamme in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Pati is an Illinois licensed massage therapist, is nationally certified through NCBTMB, is a registered Thai therapist through Thai Healing Alliance International and is a member of American Massage Therapy Association. She is a certified yoga teacher through the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, PA.
